When I first ran for Council, I was a young mom with big ideas and an incredible amount of optimism.

Since then, my family has grown. We’ve welcomed two more children, and like so many Stratford families, our lives have become woven into this community through childcare, sports, summer camps, neighbourhoods and community events.

That experience is always with me at the Council table. When we debate taxes, housing, recreation or long-term investments, I am thinking not only as a councillor, but as a parent trying to keep family life affordable while making sure Stratford remains a place where our children can grow up safely, find opportunity and one day build lives of their own.

My professional work gives me a national view of the challenges facing communities, particularly in housing, homelessness, mental health and social services. It allows me to learn from innovative approaches across the country and bring those ideas home to Stratford.

​

I will continue to push provincial and federal governments to meet their responsibilities, but I also believe Stratford must be creative about the tools, partnerships and opportunities already available to us, particularly when we can move important work forward without continually placing more pressure on property taxpayers.

​

Some of the most important work of my first term is only beginning to take shape. I want to be part of seeing it through.
